These are the requirements of the successor to Windows Vista according to Microsoft bIf you want to run Windows 7 on your computer you will need:
- 32-bit processor (x86) or 64-bit (x64) to 1 gigahertz (GHz) or higher.
- RAM 1 gigabyte (GB) (32 bit) or 2 GB RAM (64 bits).
- Available hard disk space 16 GB (32 bit) or 20 GB (64 bits).
- DirectX 9 graphics device driver WDDM 1.0 or higher.
Additional requirements to use certain features:
- Internet access (may have additional costs).
- Under the resolution, video playback may require additional memory and advanced graphics hardware.
- Some games and programs compatible graphics cards require DirectX 10 or higher for optimal performance.
- For some features of Windows Media Center, you may need a TV tuner and additional hardware.
Windows Touch and Tablet PCs require specific hardware.
- Group Home requires a network and computers running Windows 7.
- For creating DVD / CD compatible optical drive required.
- BitLocker requires Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2.
- BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive.
- Windows XP Mode requires additional 1GB of RAM, 15 GB additional available hard disk space and processor-enabled hardware virtualization with Intel VT or AMD-V enabled.
- To listen to music and sounds you need an audio output.
